When the Washington Redskins drafted Robert Griffin III, they believed they'd sorted their QB woes for the next decade, but they're going through a crisis at the moment. They have no idea whether they should invest in a new QB, or if they should choose between Colt McCoy or Kirk Cousins. Colt impressed at times; Kirk has at times too, but it's RG3 who they want to lead their team forward. However, he has seen his ability slowly lower, and he's a shadow of the rookie that took the NFL by surprise. Jay Gruden has hit out at RG3, embarrassing him in the process. Will this result in the Redskins hitting the refresh button on their QB situation, getting rid of all three?
Gruden explained the situation, saying, "I know Terry is a good quarterback coach, but as far as system is concerned, he doesn't know what we're doing as far as footwork and fundamentals and all that stuff for each given concept of each play. As far as balance and his lead foot, his arm -- where he puts the ball, where he holds the ball, all that stuff that he can work with in the offseason -- that's great if he wants a quarterback coach to work with him."
He concluded, "I have no problem with him doing that. But during the season, we have enough coaches in house that can handle his fundamentals and his footwork and his decision making."
If Gruden had full faith in his QB, would he have publicly stated this? Probably not.
The fans are calling for Colt as a short-term fix, but what should the Redskins do to solve their dramatic QB decision? Should they give up the man they so heavily invested in?
