Actor Mickey Rourke has wound back the clock and sent a man less than half his age to the canvas with a TKO in an exhibition boxing match... in Russia! The 62 year old star of The Wrestler knocked out 29 year old Elliot Seymour - a former Gold Gloves champion with a 1-9 pro record - in under two rounds, reports the BBC.

Rourke - who had an actual amateur boxing career before making it big in Hollywood, and then turned pro for a short period in the '90s, ending up with a pro record of six wins, two draws and no losses - apparently lost 35 pounds working with Mike Tyson's trainer Mike Roach, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Rourke, amid a flurry of treacle-fast body blows knocked Seymour to the canvas twice, and the referee stopped the fight in the second round, after it was billed as a five round bout.
According to the Associated Press, Rourke "prepared in a dressing room in front of a shrine featuring candles, images of saints, and photographs of his dogs".
Rourke, the report also says, was using the flight as a way to help deal with a range of personal issues. "I've got some things going on in my life so that (boxing has) sort of saved me from myself," AP claim Rourke told Russian TV. "And for a man like me, it's better to live in fear than go on in shame."
Rourke's latest movie, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For was just released on Blu-Ray and DVD.
As boxing legend Bernard Hopkins told TMZ, when it comes to doing what you love, age doesn't matter and that the "only way you're gonna know what you're capable of is by challenging yourself," he said
But as Deadspin point out, the result feels somewhat odd. "We don't even need to imply that Seymour took a dive," says Deadspin's Timothy Burke. "A guy with a 1-9 record fighting 25 pounds above his usual weight is probably taking the L against anybody, even somebody 33 years older".

What do you think? Are you happy that Rourke got back into the ring to deal with his issues, or are you skeptical of the result?
