Aaron Sorkin's critically acclaimed HBO political drama, The Newsroom, has returned for season 3. As the first half of the final season has passed, this is the perfect opportunity to look back at Will MacAvoy (Jeff Daniels), Olivia Munn (Sloan Sabbith), and MacKenzie McHale (Emily Mortimer) and see how they have been covering the breaking news.

As we previously mentioned, The Newsroom centers on the ACN cable news team as they struggle to keep their their personal beliefs from mixing with their professional lives. With their journalistic integrity compromised by the Genoa debacle, is there any way the ACN news team can regain their prominence?

The sixth season opened with Will MacAvoy (Daniels) and MacKenzie McHale (Emily Mortimer) planning their wedding. Little did they know, a catastrophe within their news team will put a damper on their arrangements. Will these two make it down the aisle on their wedding day?

Here are our five thoughts on the first three episodes of The Newsroom.

5) A Nod To The Pilot

Neal Sampat (Dev Patel) ended up with classified files from the government. Looking back, Will didn't even remember Neal's full name or what he did at his job. Now, it's Will coming to the rescue, stalling the FBI so that Neal could get a head-start and make a run for it.

4) Jane Fonda

We were so happy to see the Barbarella actress back as Leona Lansing, the CEO of Atlantic World Media. Unfortunately, Leona thought she was saving ACN when she was actually making it worse, promising money she didn't have.

3) Does Charlie Skinner Have A Nemesis?

Charlie (Sam Waterston) met with millionaire Lucas Pruitt, (B.J. Novak) who might be able to save the company from a hostile takeover. Unfortunately, Lucas also has plans that could make Charlie compromise everything he believes in.

2) Epic Disaster

Maggie (Alison Pill) thought she had an exclusive scoop on the EPA and climate change. Unfortunately, her source revealed live on the air the apocalypse is coming and nothing can stop it.

1) Not A Big Celebrity

A pretty big blow to the ego, Will thought the government couldn't take him to court because he is a big name in the industry. Knowing the name of Neal's whistleblower, Will was slapped with a subpoena. Turns out, his enemies want to make an example of him.

Season 3 of The Newsroom continues Sundays on HBO at 9pm. Readers, are you excited to see the rest of the final season?
