For the record, no, legendary actor Kirk Douglas is NOT dead... but maybe someone should tell People Magazine. It seems the publication accidentally published an obituary for the famous actor without him being dead. And if you're not aware of what an obit is, well, typically the person it's paying homage to needs to be deceased. And while the famed actor is going to be 98 next week, our guess is some folks over at People were ready just in case the father of Michael Douglas didn't quite make it. Luckily, all is fine, which is good because judging from recent news and divorce rumors swirling around Michael and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones – some might say because of some supposed flirting with his Ant-Man co-star, Evangeline Lilly – Douglas doesn't need any more stress.

According to The Huffington Post, the mag published the soon-to-be 98-year-old's obit with the headline "DO NOT PUB Kirk Douglas Dies." Oh no, looks like someone wasn't paying attention!

The obituary goes on to read, "Kirk Douglass, one of the few genuine box-office names to emerge just as TV as overtaking American culture in the years right after World Warr II, died TK TK TK." FYI: "TK" means "to come." And while the obit has a date of Sept. 29, it looks like it just went up on Twitter yesterday, Nov. 30. So it's not entirely known when it was published.

Take a look at a tweet of the obit (via Movielizer's twitter page) below:

In further reading the obit, we learn that Douglas' DOB was 12/9/1916 (wow!) and he suffered a stroke back in 1996. But we're not exactly sure what he died of. Probably because he didn't...

While seeming somewhat dark to some, the Huffington Post admits that several news organizations do work on obituaries for a number of celebs in advance; therefore, perhaps it's not totally appalling.

So, readers, were you fooled by the People mag mishap?
