Jenna Coleman's future as Clara Oswald has been up in the air recently, perhaps only for adding to the degree of mystery that always surrounded Doctor Who in the days of showrunner Steven Moffat. A recent update from Moffat confirmed Peter Capaldi's return for 2015's season 9 episodes, but no news on Coleman has been announced. With rumors spreading rapidly about the demise of Clara, new reports suggest that this month's 2014 Christmas Special, entitled Last Christmas, will clarify what happens to this character once and for all! (SPOILERS to follow)
Basically, the story so far is that Coleman wanted out of the series, which would work out quite well for her character since she lost her first Doctor (Matt Smith), Her boyfriend turned into a Cyberman and died, and she even faced some of the toughest foes in the show's history, including the Master! But now, reports are suggesting she has changed her mind, which is great news for Moffat since he enjoys writing for the character.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a BBC spokesperson pretty much spelled it all out for us, telling Radio Times: "Viewers will have to watch the Christmas episode to find out!"
