There is only one episode left for season 7 of Sons of Anarchy on FX. Now that Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) made the ultimate decision on his own mother's fate, will he inevitably face a "grim and sad" showdown with Gemma's lover, Nero (Jimmy Smits)?

As we previously mentioned, Gemma (Katey Sagal) had to hide from her own son after Jax (Hunnam) after he finally discovered who murdered Tara. Knowing his mother is the real killer, Jax was relentless in his pursuit, which even involved a high speed police chase. Though she broke his heart too, Nero (Smits) warned Jax that if it came down to him murdering his own mother; there's no coming back from that.

In our recent recap, both Jax and Wayne Unser (Dayton Callie) ended up at the same place as Gemma. Right in front of Gemma, Jax and Wayne pointed their guns at each other in a deadly standoff. After putting a bullet into Wayne, Jax walked Gemma across death row, stopped at the garden, and shot her in the back of the head.

To Entertainement Weekly, the Miami Vice actor explains Nero's decision to go to Unser, "I don't think that the Nero character understood how profound and deep the relationship that Unser has with them also was, or else he never would have sent him. I guess he thinks that because the police line in Unser's character thread was there, that he would be able to exact some kind of calm out of the situation."

The reason Unser (Callie) ended up at Gemma's place is because Nero told him where she was. Nero was expecting Unser to stop Jax from killing his mother. Nero has to carry the burden of their deaths on his shoulders.

The NYPD Blue actor reveals to TV Line that his character will be reeling from Gemma's death, "You'll see more than guilt," Smits said. "It's touching in a lot of ways. It's sad. But it's grim, too."

With the series finale coming up, the Dexter actor adds, "The audience is going to be satisfied with the way it ends up, and that it continues to deliver a one-two punch. Showrunner Kurt Sutter ended it really beautifully."

We have 5 possible endings for Sons of Anarchy; see if we were right on the money on who is going to live and die.

The series finale of Sons of Anarchy airs on FX December 9 at 10pm. Readers, are you excited to see the last episode?
