MTV is still reeling from the loss of two of its brightest stars Diem Brown and Ryan Knight. The two members of the Real World Road Rules: The Challenge family passed away within two weeks of each other last month in November. Diem passed away on November 14 after fighting a long battle with ovarian cancer. Knight, on the other hand, passed away on Thanksgiving morning, from a cause that is still yet to be determined.
According to Entertainment Weekly, to celebrate these two very special and talented stars, MTV is planning on dedicating their new whole season of competition show, The Challenge, to the fierce competitors. The 26th season of the series titled, The Challenge: Battle of the Exes II, features both Diem and Ryan, as they compete for a huge cash price. Brown paired up with her on-again, off-again love Chris "CT" Tamburello for the competition, while Ryan was partner up with his ex, Jemmye Carroll, both from Real World: New Orleans.
Shortly after learning about Brown's death, MTV released a statement expressing their sadness over the loss.
"MTV is tremendously sad to hear the news that Diem Brown has lost her long battle with cancer. We send our deepest condolences to her family and friends," the network released in a statement, via E! News. "Diem was a true fighter and brought passion to everything she touch. We will miss her."
The network also released a statement following Knights death last week.
"We are saddened to hear the news of the passing of Ryan Knight," MTV explained. "Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
The new season of The Challenge: Battle of the Exes II is set to debut on MTV on January 6.
