'Ready Player One' Movie Spoilers [RUMORS] Christopher Nolan Following 2014 'Interstellar' Success With '80 Video Game Film?

Christopher Nolan blew audiences and critics away with his 2014 sci-fi epic film, Interstellar. Now new rumors that popped up this week might have revealed his next big project: Ready Player One. This is a film about a young gamer in the 1980s that discovers a treasure hunt in a virtual reality world. Does this sound like Nolan's type of movie project? A lot of sources are pretty hesitant to believe the rumor, so we'll have to wait longer for a real confirmation.

This rumor started over on a website called Tracking Board, which, as The Mary Sue points out, has been wrong about movie rumors in the past. Regardless, the website claims that Warner Bros. has offered the project to Nolan and that he is in early talks to helm the film.

According to Gamma Squad, the film is full of pop culture references and sounds a bit campy. Every website is comparing it to Goonies, which might be interesting with Nolan's directing. Plus, Slash Film points out that the script (written by Ernie Cline and rewritten by Zak Penn) was recently turned into Warner Studios - so the timing of this rumor works out for the most part

In the year 2044, reality is an ugly place. The only time teenage Wade Watts really feels alive is when he's jacked into the virtual utopia known as the OASIS. Wade's devoted his life to studying the puzzles hidden within this world's digital confines-puzzles that are based on their creator's obsession with the pop culture of decades past and that promise massive power and fortune to whoever can unlock them. But when Wade stumbles upon the first clue, he finds himself beset by players willing to kill to take this ultimate prize. The race is on, and if Wade's going to survive, he'll have to win-and confront the real world he's always been so desperate to escape.
