We always knew Justin Timberlake was mutli-talented, but this weekend he took his game to a whole new level. Timberlake is a minority owner of the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies and he is frequently spotted courtside at games at the FedEx Forum, where the Grizzlies play their home contests. During a break in the action in Sunday's game against the Miami Heat, Timberlake snatched a TV camera and pretended to start rolling.
The live TV camera caught TImberlake in the act, but that didn't stop him from goofing off. Instead the singer-actor went all owner-director, scanning, mouthing commands and hilariously breaking the fourth wall.
Timberlake has been publicly adamant about his fandom for the Grizzlies, which are now 16-4 after beating the Heat 103-87 on Sunday. Timberlake was born in Memphis and became a minority owner of the team in 2012, according to SB Nation.
"We were voted the No.1 sports franchise by ESPN the Magazine this year," Timberlake said in an interview with ESPN the Mag in 2013. "Woot woot. Just wanted to throw that out there again. Number one."
"That's my hometown, that's where I keep my residence and my home," Timberlake continued. "I put on for my city."
He apparently also puts on for the viewers at home.
Obviously excited that the Grizzlies were up by 10 points at the time, Timberlake charmed the viewers (if not two oblivious selfie-snappers behind him) and color announcers when he kept the cameraman charade up through the end of the timeout.
"Justin Timberlake has joined the Emmy Award winning Grizzlies broadcast!" the TV announcers exclaimed.
Not bad for a guy who spends most of his time in front of the camera.
