It seems like Dancing with the Stars has been a revolving door lately with stars coming and going. After announcements that Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Cheryl Burke were leaving that show, as well as speculations that co-host Erin Andrews won't be back for the new season, it's being reported that the ABC competition series is losing another member.
According to E! News, Len Goodman, who has been one of the main judges with the show since its inception, will be saying bon voyage to the series after the upcoming spring season.
Digital Spy was the first to report on the story, saying that Goodman feels that flying back and forth to film the British show Strictly Come Dancing and the American version has become too much for him and he needs a little break from it all.
"Next year, I'm not going to do the flying back and forwards — I'm not going to do the American show ... I've got to have a bit of time off," the star told the news site. "I've got my wife, I've got my son, my mother is still alive and she's in the hospital — I've had virtually no time to go and visit her. So, I just need a bit of time off to get on with a normal life."
The silver lining, it seems, is that should Len ever want to come back to the series, he could. He's just taking a little breather for right now.
And it's no wonder that the star wants to take a leave of absence, as he has been doing both shows consecutively for the past 10 years as he started with Strictly in 2004 and then began the American version in 2005.
"It was either Strictly went or the American one went or the tour went ... I'm doing the spring one when I go out there ... and that's going to be my last one," Len explained. "Dancing with the Stars — next year is their 10th year, it's the 20th series of the show. So I think that's a nice place to stop."
