It's been one of the year's most high profile breakups, but now it appears that "entrepretainer" Nick Cannon and singer Mariah Carey's marriage is officially done and the pair are simply working out the details to their divorce. During an interview with Good Morning America while promoting his new book Roc and Roe's Twelve Days of Christmas — based on his experience with his and Carey's three and a half year old twins, Moroccan and Monroe — Cannon talked about the pair's separation, saying they're making their 3-year-old twins their priority.
GMA host Lara Spencer spilled the beans initially, saying to Cannon,"You and I were just talking, Mariah and you are separated, [but] Christmas is about family first and foremost."
The 34-year-old host of America's Got Talent responded magnanimously, saying "Always focus on family. We'll forever be family. At the same time, we're there for our children, making them the No. 1 priority and understanding that they're loved and can have an amazing holiday."
PerezHilton.com states that because the entertainer was out promoting his new book based around his kids "we believe he's sincere about keeping his fam together no matter what!"
Last week People reported that Mariah was busy dealing with the divorce settlement on her phone, which causeed her to delay her performance for the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. "She was on the phone for probably close to five hours straight with lawyers," said a source to the magazine, who added that the "delay caused her to be three hours late to the taping, leaving fans waiting in the rain."
Yahoo! says that a "divorce is said to be 'imminent,' but no papers have been filed." And even with that news, the pair will stay true to Cannon's word and make sure to spend Christmas together as family, reports In Touch, saying they'll spend it "somewhere cold and snowy like Aspen."
