The recent Sony e-mail hacks and leaks revealed plenty of news about Sony movies, but we even found out some information about the upcoming Star Wars trilogy movies that will comes after J.J. Abrams' 2015 blockbuster, The Force Awakens. Known now only as Episodes 8 and 9, we can really only confirm that Rian Johnson is directing and writing both films. Now with a subtle mention to the project in an e-mail to Sony's Amy Pascal, Columbia Pictures' Michael De Luca dropped a big spoiler for the plot details of the last two movies.
According to details released by The Daily Beast, De Luca mentioned a short description of the next two Star Wars movies after 2015's highly anticipated film, stating that it will focus on two of the characters from the original trilogy.
The e-mails allegedly say that the next films will focus on "Luke and Leia story lines," but that's all that it says. There's no elaboration about the films after that. So let the rumors start flying!
To be honest, we'll obviously have to wait to see what happens in Abrams' The Force Awakens before trying to figure out how Johnson will tell the story of the sci-fi siblings in the near future. Our advice is to just be patient and to not read too far into this quote.
