Rachel Bilson was pregnant in real life when she was filming scenes for the upcoming season of Hart Of Dixie, which left fans of the show with the burning question of whether or not Zoe Hart will be pregnant on the series. Well the question was answered last night on the premiere episode of the fourth season, as Zoe tried to win back her ex-boyfriend Wade played by Wilson Bethel. However, when it came to the creative team they had the decision of either embracing Bilson's growing baby bump or to conceal it. For anyone who hasn't taken a trip down South to Bluebell and watched last night's episode, we are going to warn you that there are some major - and we mean major - spoilers below.
According to E! News, Zoe Hart is indeed pregnant. While the creators could have taken the same route as fellow TV series Scandal, and hid Bilson's baby bump like they did with Kerry Washington's, the series decided to follow in the footsteps of Nashville and embrace the baby bump like the ABC series did with Hayden Panettiere's pregnancy.
TVLine is reporting that on last night's season opener, viewers saw Zoe trying to win back Wade's heart, but only managed to get him into bed with her. An act, which she later discovers has left her preggo.
The news site talked to the executive producer, Leila Gerstein, to get some scoop on how the soon-to-be new addition is going to impact the series.
"Rachel being pregnant and the decision to writer her pregnancy in definitely became the creative choice that fueled what her and Wade's relationship was," Gerstein explained to the news site. "If that character got pregnant, that's it. That's going to be the most important thing that's ever going to happen to her, and her and Wade."
New episodes will move to their Friday timeslot, when Hart Of Dixie returns on January 9, at 8 pm.
