How did Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly embarrass herself in front of President Obama? Kelly — the Fox personality who famously asserted last year that Jesus and Santa Claus were 'white' — revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live that she made a fool out of herself to the President and First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House by making an ill-advised joke. The Kelly File host also spoke of the pulling of Seth Rogen and James Franco's North Korea-baiting movie The Interview and the Sony email hack, adding that she commiserated with Donald Sterling, the disgraced racist owner of NBA team, the Los Angeles Clippers.
Detailing her trip to Washington DC with husband Doug Brunt for the annual the White House media Christmas party, Kelly explained that while the White House "looked beautiful, it was spectacular," she couldn't move around without hitting someone from the 'liberal' media. "Boy oh boy did I see a lot of MSNBC anchors," the Fox host laughed. "I mean you couldn't take two steps without hitting one. I think they got a few more invitations than we got."
Kelly also explained that when it came to talking to the President, she "had 30 seconds to get in and get out without embarrassing myself... and I blew it."
Just how did she blow meeting the most powerful man in the world? Well, after thanking Michelle Obama and telling her "you have a beautiful family", Kelly spoke to the President, wishing him a 'Merry Christmas'. After the president said "the White House is a pretty fun place, isn't it?" Kelly replied "It is...' and," she points out, "speaking about me and my husband Doug, who was next to me, I said 'Maybe we'll be here in two years!'."

According to Kelly the President looked at her "like 'What?' And I was like, 'Oh, what did I say'?"
It was, she says, "a joke that we were going to run for office and we'd be in the White House in two years."
Oh. Well. That's not very funny.
"And I think," she goes on, "all he was thinking was 'Who's we? Oh, she's with Fox News. Oh - I don't like Fox News. That's for Republicans. She must mean the Republicans! Oh my god, is this a shot at me at my Christmas party?'"
Realizing what she'd done, she didn't get a chance to clear up the situation, so she took the chance on Kimmel, saying "President Obama, I'm sorry, i didn't mean it that way."

The Fox News anchor - who also apologized for saying that Jesus and Santa were white last year - also called the Sony email hack and the shelving of the release of The Interview "deeply troubling", saying that she believes "the only message back has to be from the American consumer."
"The American people," she argued, "have to act with their pocketbooks, whether it's buying the movie on dvd, ordering it on pay per view, they've got to release in some fashion so the American people can the final say on this. We have to show them what we stand for."
As for the email hack, she revealed that she didn't know if reporting on the hacked Sony emails was the right thing, "Because I don't know," she said, "if we should be dining on the carcass of someone's dead privacy rights."
"I felt the same feeling when Donal Sterling - that gem - got outed."
