We've learned the title of the Doctor Who's season 9 premiere episode, and it has already stirred up plenty of speculation and rumors about the upcoming 2015 episodes' plot details. Entitled "The Magician's Apprentice," Whovians all over the world are wondering if we should focus on the word "apprentice," which could be another word for "companion." As you've probably heard, there's plenty of gossip about whether or not Jenna Coleman will return to play Clara Oswald next year, possibly meaning her character will die in the 2014 holiday special, "Last Christmas." (SPOILERS to follow)

The Hollywood Reporter and Radio Times confirm this new episode title, which also happens to be the title of a fantasy novel written by author Trudi Canavan.

Series showrunner Steven Moffat just recently added flame to the rumor fire of a new companion, saying that if a new companion comes into the series, the stories would focus on the relationship between Peter Capladi's character and him/her.

"We took the Doctor/companion relationship to a place that's just more real in [Season 8], much more damaging and with more consequences," Mofatt told SFX Magazine earlier this month, according to DoctorWhoTV.co.uk. "And whoever the companion is [in Season 9], you want to continue that idea. It can be a thrilling, exciting relationship but actually it can be a dangerous one too. That felt quite powerful and potent."

Though we could also look at this title as proof that Clara is staying around. The Doctor is like a magician, and the title doesn't suggest any new apprentice coming on board, so maybe she's sticking around for more companionship. All we can really say is that we'll have to wait and watch this premiere episode, which is most likely airing in the Fall of 2015.
