Say his name three times and he is most likely going to appear, right? Well we are guessing we have finally said it enough times because it seems like Beetlejuice is about to make his reappearance. The original movie, which debuted in 1988 and starred Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder, might be getting the sequel treatment, at least if director Tim Burton has anything to say about it.
According to IGN, the Burton classic film could be happening sooner than fans expect, that is if Michael Keaton gets on board to reprise his role. The entertainment site spoke to Burton at the premiere of his new flick, Big Eyes, where they asked if a follow up was in the works.
"There's only one Beetlejuice, and that's Michael," Burton told the news site. "There is a script, and I would love to work with him again. I think there is now a better chance than ever... I miss that character. There's something that's cathartic and amazing about it. I think it's closer than ever."
It seems that the two stars are relying on each other for the flick to come to fruition, as Keaton previously told MTV News that the only way he'd be involved was if Tim was a part of it.
"I've emailed Tim a couple of times," the actor explained. "Talked to the writer a couple of times, but all really, really preliminary stuff. I always said that's the one thing I'd like to do again, it I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved some way or another."
No word yet if stars Winona Ryder, Alec Baldwin, or Geena Davis will make a return for the new flick.
