The Walking Dead spinoff continues to add to its cast, as Gone Girl and Sons of Anarchy actress Kim Dickens has joined the untitled series.
Deadline first exclusively reported that Dickens would play the female lead in the series, which is currently codenamed "Cobalt." The site said the casting process was lengthy and AMC tested multiple actresses for the part.
The spinoff "revolves around a divorced teacher (Cliff Curtis) and a guidance counselor (Dickens), who are working together and are in a relationship. The counselor has two children from a previous marriage, played by Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey. She looks like the girl next door but has a darkness to her, a troubled past that will come back to haunt her," Deadline reports.
TVLine exclusively reported that the spinoff series would be set in Los Angeles. Reports had swirled for months that the series would feature a different part of the world than the Georgia area in which we have followed Rick Grimes and friends, and L.A. is certainly a departure from that.
TVLine adds it is unclear if the show would actually be shot in L.A. or if another city would stand in for it.
The companion series recently found its lead actor, Cliff Curtis. Deadline reported Curtis will play the male lead in the spinoff series as a divorced teacher who tries to do the best he can for everyone in his life. The female lead, a guidance counselor, has not yet been cast.
