Production is already underway upcoming superhero flick for Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While audiences await to see actor Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme, director Scott Derrickson teases impressive fanart for Marvel's Doctor Strange.
As we previously mentioned, the Sherlock actor himself will play Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange. The story follows the ex-neurosurgeon as he struggles to move forward from a horrific car accident. After discovering the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions, Strange trains himself to become the Sorcerer Supreme.
According to C/Net, the Sinister director tweeted a wonderfully drawn fan art by digital artist Don Franco. The caption states, "Strange but not a stranger," which refers to a lyric from the Talking Heads song, Burning Down the House. The illustrated featured the Sherlock actor with a think mustache, much like his comic book alter-ego.
The artwork was so impressive that many sites reportedly thought it was official concept art from the set. Derrickson had to clarify himself and states, "Last tweet is online fan art, not official. I have no idea who made it."
It would be interesting to see how the Star Trek: Into Darkness actor will resemble Stephen Strange. The question remains, will we see the Marvel hero wearing his cape.
We also mentioned Ken Watanabe, Morgan Freeman, or Bill Nighy are in talks for the role of The Ancient One. In the Marvel Universe, the Ancient One is the mentor of Strange and his arch-nemesis, Baron Mordo. In the mythology, Mordo murders his former master, which will cause Strange to seek revenge.
