Rapper Azealia Banks says that she wants the United States to give African Americans reparations for slavery. The outspoken rapper spoke passionately about slavery and Hip Hop music being white washed in a recent interview with New York radio station Hot 97 and added more on her Twitter rant.
The "212" rapper tweeted Monday, "More important than any single check cut to any African American, the payment of reparations would represent America's..." she added, "I don't think reparations should be paid out to every individual black family, because the money would be spent so unwisely... I think that, after we somehow get HR-40 approved (which we CAN if enough young people know about it)... There should be an elected group."
The 23-year-old compared the Hip Hop being the only thing she has to hold on to since African Americans still can receive reparations for slavery, "The basis of modern capitalism is slave labor...the selling and trading of slaves."
She said tearfully. "There are still huge corporations that are still caking off this slave money...At the very f*cking least you owe me the right to my f*cking identity and to not exploit that sh*t. That's all we're holding on to with hip hop and rap.
