Does Gwyneth Paltrow regret her 'conscious uncoupling' from husband, Coldplay singer Chris Martin? Paltrow has revealed in a new interview that she remains "very, very close" to Martin just days after Martin was spotted hanging out with ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence. The 42 year old actress and founder of Goop also explained in a separate interview — Paltrow is promoting new movie Mortdecai with Johnny Depp and Ewan McGregor — that there are times when she thinks it would've been better had they stayed married. The couple - who have two children together, Apple, 10, and Moses, 8 - split in March 2014 after 10 years of marriage.

In the new issue of Marie Claire magazine the actress revealed "There was nothing dramatic or anything," about her and Martin's breakup. "I had built my life on trying to be all things to all people, and I just couldn't do it anymore, and I really had the sense that I wasn't allowed to have needs, and I had to prove my specialness or self-worth by doing all this stuff and taking care of everybody else, and I just sort of hit a wall."
She also told the magazine that she and her former husband are still super close. "We've worked really f---ing hard to get to [this] point," she says. "But we're very, very close, and it's so nice. I feel like it's, in a way, the relationship we were meant to have."
Paltrow also appears on the cover of the next issue of Harper's Bazaar U.K. in which she reveals that "Of course, there are times when I think it would have been better if we had stayed married, which is always what your children want. But we have been able to solidify this friendship, so that we're really close."
The actress, who also plays Pepper Potts in the Iron Man franchise, added "It's painful, it's difficult, it might be easier to say, 'I never want to see you again,' but what good does that do anyone?" she said. "We've made a lot of mistakes, and we've had good days and bad days, but I have to say, I'm proud of us for working through so much stuff together-and not blaming and shaming."
She added that when she first got together with Martin in 2002 it was when she was still grieving the death of her father, and were it not for the Martin, she says, "I feel like I would have died somehow if I hadn't met him at that time.
"I felt like I was going to die of grief. I remember waking up, on one particular night, where I felt like I was having a heart attack and I couldn't breathe... I lay on the floor of my apartment in London and I thought, "I'm not going to survive this." And he just picked me up and he was so loving and patient through all my grieving. He's really great in a crisis."
The February 2015 Harper's Bazaar U.K is on sale today, while Marie Claire is out Jan. 13. You can watch the trailer for Mortdecai below.
