Movie-going audiences are anxiously awaiting to see the next superhero flick for Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Viewers are excited to watch actor Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme in Sinister director Scott Derrickson's Marvel's Doctor Strange.

As we previously mentioned, the Sherlock actor himself will play Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange. The origin story follows an ex-neurosurgeon as he struggles to move forward from a horrific car accident. After discovering the hidden world of dark magic and alternate dimensions, Strange trains himself to become the Sorcerer Supreme.

Just as we were excited to see Derrickson in the directing chair, here are 5 reasons why Cumberbatch is perfect as Marvel's Doctor Strange:

5) He Is Sherlock Holmes

If you've read the mystery/detective books by Arthur Conan Doyle, then you know Holmes is an egotistical, intelligent, and smart-alecky jerk. The Sherlock actor has to embody each of those qualities, which is why we're eagerly anticipating the fourth season premiere. In the comics, Strange is at times a schemer and manipulator, and that's why we know Cumberbatch will do wonders with this character.

4) KHANN!!

Even though Ricardo Montalbán already played Captain Kirk's arch-nemesis, the Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy did his own spin on the role. It's not easy to do something new with something already done before. With the mythology set in the Marvel Universe, Cumberbatch will give it his best shot bringing to life his comic book alter-ego.

3) The Fan-art Speaks For Itself

As we previously mentioned,  the Sinister director tweeted a wonderfully drawn fan art by digital artist Don Franco. The caption states, "Strange but not a stranger," which refers to a lyric from the Talking Heads song, Burning Down the House. The illustration featured the The Hobbit actor with a thin mustache, much like his comic book alter-ego.

2) Team-Up

We know The Day The Earth Stood Still director will bring in the awesome visuals through the special effects. We also know the The Imitation Game actor will deliver a solid performance while acting in front of nothing. This is going to be an exciting movie to watch.

1) Destined To Win An Oscar

The Imitation Game has Oscar buzz written all over it, just like his work in 12 Years a Slave. Whatever movie he wins it for, it will be rightly deserved. Think about it, an Oscar winner playing a Marvel superhero; how awesome is that. Now, if Marvel can somehow get Al Pacino (Dick Tracey) in another comic book movie, we're all set.

November 4, 2016 is the scheduled release date for Doctor Strange. Readers, are you anxious to see Benedict Cumberbatch as the sorcerer supreme?
