The Super Bowl is not only going to be the battle of the top two NFL teams this season, but it will also be a showdown between two of the biggest pop stars in the world. Katy Perry has had an ongoing feud with Taylor Swift, and it is being reported that the Dark Horse singer will use her position as this year's halftime show star to make a public statement about the 1989 starlet.
According to Hollywood Life, the 30-year-old brunette will be taking on the 25-year-old blond during the sporting event after Swift publicly criticized her in her song "Bad Blood."
"She wants to make a statement with her performance and show that she is the biggest female act in the world and she wants to show that to everyone including Taylor, who she has a feud with," the insider explained to the site. "In Katy's eyes, no one can compete on her level."
The "Firework" singer is currently preparing for the huge event, and while we're sure there are going to be a lot of colorful explosions during her set, the site is also revealing what else Katy has up her sleeve.
"Katy is in complete rehearsal mode for her Super Bowl performance, she wants to make it feel like a complete party and something that will be remembered forever," the source stated.
Does the memorable performance have anything to do with what Perry is planning to say to Swift? Who knows, but the source explained, "Katy will be doing something on stage during her performance that will be directed towards Taylor," adding, "She is working on it to be a visual or lyric-related jab."
The Mirror is also reporting that Katy could possibly bring some special guests on stage during her set, including Pharrell Williams.
"Katy is a huge fan of Pharrell and knows that having him duet with her on one of her songs during her performance will make all the difference," the source explained, adding that "her people are already in early talks with his people about setting it all up."
