Jan 4, ESPN's legendary anchor, Stuart Scott lost his battle with cancer after seven years and celebrities and fans mourn the 49-year-old's death on social media.

Learning of the tragic loss of the iconic ESPN journalist who coined catchy phrases such as, "booyah!" and "as cool as the other side of the pillow," fans who followed Scott's work throughout his 22-year run on the sports network.

Celebrities mourned the loss of the prominent anchor throughout social media:

Singer The Dream wrote, "My Deepest sympathy to the family of Stuart Scott, we all as fans will miss you. I remember in 2009 you chanting Radiokilla Live from ESPN and my face lit up because your voice reminded us when something in the culture had crossed over to Mainstream. You were a symbol of success in the culture and in life! They die young,they die Young, the best of them often Die Young! Love and Peace my friend!"

Comedian Kevin Hart wrote, "It's very rare in this business to come across a person with such a genuine & warming personality like Stuart Scott had. I was lucky enough to know you & blessed enough to be able to call you my friend. Your speech about Cancer & how you choose to fight Cancer at the Espy's bought tears to my eyes. You are the definition of strength man....Heaven has a amazing new angel in you. My prayers go out to your family."

Actress Gabrielle Union wrote, "This was a man who was amazing at his job... but was an even MORE amazing father who never missed an opportunity to talk about his love of his children... that is how I will remember him, my friend ... true gentleman, great man, fierce warrior, beloved father."
