Following the first few opening weeks of the 2014 regular season, the Sharks snag the No. 16 spot in Scott Burnsides's official NHL power ranking for ESPN.com with a 20-14-5 record:
"And your roller-coaster Sharks followed up a 9-1-0 stretch by dropping four of their past five games, including getting pounded 7-2 at home by the Blues on Saturday night."
Meanwhile, the Jets currently hold the No. 14 spot (out of 30 total teams) with a 20-12-7 record. According to Burnside:
"That was a huge win over the Maple Leafs on Saturday as the Jets try to hang in there with all their injuries."
