"American Idol" judges news update: E! News confirms that Latino singer/songwriter Enrique Iglesias has officially been offered a spot at the judge's table on the hit Fox reality show. According to reports, producers are offering the "Hero" singer a $4 million/year contract, and rumors have it that this upcoming "American Idol" season may feature a fourth judge.
Fox and reps for Inglesias have yet to comment.
Mariah Carey has been the only celebrity confirmed as an "Idol" judge as of yet. Although the popular reality singing show is revamping its entire cast (Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler have both given up their seats, and supposedly longtime judge Randy Jackson may take on a new role as mentor), there are talks that season 12 may feature the presence of a fourth celebrity judge.
Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban are two other big names that are being thrown around in the "American Idol" hoopla.
E! turned to singer Ne-Yo to get a music industry insider's opinion: "Between Nicki and Enrique I think both of them would do a good job, but Enrique's been in the game longer so he might have a bit more insight on what these kids need to know. But see, on the other side of that, Nicki has basically gone through what they are about to go through recently, so I don't know, it's a tossup."'
What do "American Idol" fans think? Would Inglesias make a good addition to the "Idol" crew?
"American Idol" season 12 will premiere sometime in January.
