Before going on their winter break, Season 4 of Person of Interest presented the first part of its latest trilogy CBS. With the stakes even higher for Shaw's life, will Reese (Jim Caviezel), and Finch (Michael Emerson) meet their "shocking" deaths in the war between Samaritan and the Machine in If-Then-Else?
As we previously mentioned, The Machine was beaten by a much more powerful Artificial Intelligence, known as Samaritan. To stay hidden from Samaritan's growing radar, Finch (Emerson) and his group assumed normal, regular lives to prevent themselves from getting caught. The stakes are even higher now that Shaw's cover was unexpectedly discovered by Samaritan.
In our mid-season finale recap, Root (Amy Acker) ended up meeting with the avatar of the Samaritan, who was a very creepy kid indeed. Samaritan sees The Machine as a fallen god and promises to take its rightful place enslaving humanity. When the meeting was over, Samaritan unleashed a virus onto Wall Street, which plummeted the stock exchange.
In an exclusive featurette with TV Line, showrunner Greg Plageman teases part two is a "massive, cool, time-shifting episode that's going to blow some people's minds" - while adding, "something totally shocking happens."
Check out the featurette here:
In the video, we see Finch getting shot while trying to warn Root. Martine and her operatives even shoot down an axe-wielding Root in a hail of bullets? Reese even seems to be in major trouble fighting one of Martine's operatives.
Fans of POI may remember the last time the show had a trilogy, Team Machine felt a major loss when Joss Carter (Taraji P. Henson) got caught in the crossfire.
Plageman continues, "It's an opportunity to actually kill off all our characters in one episode! [Maniacal Laughs]"
