While fans of David Cross are sure to check out his debut as a director with the upcoming independent comedy Hits, the new trailer released this week for the 2015 film has us hoping this becomes one of the biggest movies of the year. Starring a small-town girl (Meredith Hagner) dreaming of becoming famous, only to sit back and watch her father (Matt Walsh) stumble into YouTube celebrity, Hits is a great examination of pop culture and viral video fanaticism that we think we can all enjoy and laugh about. Michael Cera, Wyatt Cenac, David Koechner, and Jason Ritter also star in this laugh riot comedy.
This movie will surely make you take a step back and rethink what's going on in America these days. Fame is a desire of the majority of the younger generation today, but it's also something that is easily obtainable for all of the wrong reasons. In the first trailer for Hits, we see director Cross take a stab at dark comedy in a pretty great way.

Hits has yet to receive a release date, but we're guessing we'll be able to watch it in 2015. Here is the official synopsis of the film (via Slash Film):
Hits is a dark comedy exploring the nature of fame in 21st century YouTube America. The film takes place in a small town in upstate New York populated by people who trade in unrealistic expectations. It's a story in which fame, delusion, earnestness, and recklessness meet, shake hands, and disrupt the lives around them.
