MStars News has learned that Gospel great Andraé Crouch has died at the age of 72.
According to Billboard, the singer died Saturday after suffering from a heart attack.
Crouch was a seven-time Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, arranger, producer and pastor. He was the man behind Gospel hits including "The Blood Will New Lose Its Power," "Soon and Very Soon," "Let The Church Say Amen," and many more.
The singer also played a role as choir director, and was in charge of the the choirs that sang in Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror" and Madonna's "Like a Prayer" music videos.
Crouch was taken to the Northridge Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles, after he had some health complications, but didn't come home.
Crouch's sister, who is also a pastor at their church, New Christ Memorial Church in San Fernando, California stated:
"On Saturday, January 3rd, my brother, Andraé Crouch, was taken to the hospital so that medical staff could more directly address some serious health complications that had arisen," his sister Sandra Crouch revealed earlier this week. "At this time, Andraé is being attended to by a medical team, and we are so grateful for their wonderful care. We are also so grateful for the many thousands of people around the world who are praying for Andraé right now. We ask for your continued prayer — that Andraé will respond positively to the medical attention being given to him at this time, and that he will fully recover from this current health complication."
The Facebook page was later updated to:
"Andraé Crouch, who was hospitalized on January 3rd, has had some positive response to the medical attention that has been given to him.The medical team has given some encouraging news and we are so grateful for the many thousands of people who are praying on behalf of my brother. With the continued medical attention and your prayers, we are trusting the Lord for a full recovery."
Crouch was previously hospitalized last month with pneumonia and congestive heart failure. His illness caused him to put his Let the Church Say Amen Celebration Tour on hold. The tour was set to begin on Dec. 6 in Philadelphia.
RIP.
