The CW network has announced the premiere date and teasing info about their new series, iZombie. Based on the DC Comics series, will the undead Liv (Rose McIver) her non-dead friends, Clive (Malcolm Goodwin) and Ravi (Rahul Kohli), be able to sop the zombie apocalypse?
From on the Vertigo Comics series from writer Chris Roberson and artist Mike Allred, iZombie centers on Gwen Dylan, a gravedigger by day and a zombie private eye by night. In order to survive, Gwen has to feed on brains before her dead body starts to rot away. With her mind sharing someone else's thoughts and memories, the unlicensed private investigator has to fulfill the dead person's last request.
As we previously mentioned, there have been some changes made for the live-action adaptation. Gwen has been renamed "Liv Moore" on the TV show. Our female lead now works in the city morgue, which happens to be a great place for dead bodies to keep popping up. While Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti (Kohli) knows Liv is a member of the walking dead, Clive Babinaux (Goodwin) thinks she is just some sort of weird Goth freak/psychic.
In an interview with Comic Book Resources, executive producer Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars) explains the difference between the case-of-the week and the long story arc, "As we pick up the show, Liv believes she is maybe the only zombie. She got turned into a zombie at a boat party, where it was utter desolation. Very few people got off alive. You could argue she didn't even get off alive. It was a way for us to contain the zombie outbreak. Over the course of the pilot, she discovers there is one more [zombie]. That's the ending reveal of the pilot."

Thomas continues, "The long arc, the mythology, will involve her trying to stave off a zombie apocalypse. She will be the lynch-pin in that. When we start the show, we sort of have one good zombie and one bad zombie. It's much easier to be a bad zombie. You can create other zombies at will. The long arc will be trying to survive and stave off a zombie apocalypse."

As we previously mentioned, actor Steven Weber will appear in two episodes as a charismatic CEO of an energy drink company.
iZombie premieres on the CW Network Tuesday, March 17 at 9 p.m., after The Flash. Readers, are you excited to see this show?
