Ian Somerhalder, Nikki Reed Engaged - 'Vampire Diaries' Star & 'Twilight' Beauty Getting Married After 6 Months of Dating

Call the pastor because these two have just made it official. Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder are officially going to be husband and wife. The 36-year-old Vampire Diaries star and his 26-year-old Twilight beauty of a girlfriend are indeed engaged. Following the finalization of Reed's divorce from American Idol alum Paul McDonald, the beauty has agreed to be Ian's wife.

E! News confirmed the couple's engagement. While the two have only dated for six months, they have been friends for years, as Ian's former girlfriend, Nina, and Nikki were good friends before Somerhalder and Reed got together.

A source told E! News that the fast engagement makes sense for the couple since they have "been in love for years," but were just friends before getting romantic with each other in July.

"They're so happy," the insider explained, adding "they were crazy happy from the start. Their families love each other. It just feels really right."

This isn't the only pairing that the couple is embarking on, as they previously reported that they are starting a production company together, according to the news site.

"Nikki and I are starting a production company and we're going to be able to tell even more stories that we really want to tell, everything from documentaries to TV shows to movies," the TVD star revealed.

It might have been on the couple's vacation to Sun Valley over the Christmas holidays where Ian popped the question, as the star took to his Instagram account to post picture of their fun filled trip.
