Chris Brown's neck tattoo was not a pretty sight for fans and observers who felt that it resembled a "battered Rihanna."  Brown's rep defended the singer and explained to TMZ, "His tattoo is a sugar skull (associated with the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead) and a MAC cosmetics design he saw. It is not Rihanna or an abused woman as erroneously reported."

The tattoo reminded many people of the 2009 incident where he had battered his then girlfriend, Rihanna.  Rihanna has since forgiven him and even confessed that she will always love him on the Oprah Next Chapter show.

Brown defended himself on Twitter and posted, "I'm an artist and this is art. Dia de los Muertos."

Twitter users have spoke out against Brown for his neck tattoo resembling Rihanna.

@frankieboyle - Chris Brown doesn't need a tattoo to remind him of what he did. That's what Twitter is for.

Lady Gaga New Tattoo After Hair Shaved Off

@morgan_murphy - Dear Chris Brown, it says a lot that getting a neck tattoo of a battered woman is only the 2nd most regrettable act of your life.

‏@simonhelberg - Chris Brown should've gotten the Rihanna tattoo without the bruises & then we could all punch him in the neck to give it that battered look.

Brown is not the only one getting new ink in the past week. Lady Gaga both shaved the back of her head and got a new tattoo drawn live in front of several hundred people.  Rihanna coincidentally got a new tattoo under her breasts in honor of her late grandmother.
