We are just days away from the final Season 6 premiere of Justified on FX. Based on the popular crime novels by the late author Elmore Leonard, viewers are anxious to see how it all ends as Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant), Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins), and Ava Crowder (Joelle Cater) confront each other in the ultimate standoff.
As we previously mentioned, in the fifth season finale, Raylan (Olyphant) was just about ready to leave Harlan County to visit his wife and baby daughter. But when he heard Boyd (Goggins) had teamed up with mob boss, Katherine Hale (Mary Steenburgen), Raylan wanted nothing more than to finally bring him in to justice. In the shocking cliffhanger, we discover Ava (Joelle Carter) is now an undercover crime informant for Raylan and will snitch on Boyd.
Here are 5 reasons why you should watch the final season of Justified:
Creator/showrunner Graham Yost envisioned Justified to be a modern day western. In the pilot, Raylan gave his enemy an ultimatum to get out of town in two minutes. Down to the final seconds, Raylan pulled his piece and fired first before his opponent had a chance. Is this how the series will end, with a final showdown at high noon?
If you've read the Elmore Leonard novels, then you know his writing influenced Quentin Tarantino's movies. The criminals are usually high school dropouts and everyone has their style of speaking. Elevating their lines to Shakespearean heights, Goggins and Olyphant have a way of making every one-liner sound utterly cool.
In the fifth season, Ava (Carter) was sent to an all-female prison. Left on her own, Ava would do just about anything to get out of her prison. She went through the worst in that hellhole and quite possibly came out stronger, but more hardened, than Raylan and Boyd put together. She might even be the one killing Boyd in the final episodes.
Rachel Brooks (Erica Tazel) was promoted when Art (Nick Searcy) had to step down after getting wounded in the line of duty. Attorney David Vasquez (Rick Gomez) hinted Katherine Hale (Steenburgen) was the one really in charge of her husband's criminal operations. Harking back to Mags Bennett (Margo Martindale), it's going to be Rachel up against Katherine!
At the end of the pilot, Raylan ended up shooting Boyd in the chest, but missing the bullseye. Each season, even the Leonard's final novel, Raylan, hinted at a showdown between the two former best friends; with only one left standing. When push comes to shove, will Raylan be fast enough in the quick draw? Or will Boyd end up pulling the trigger first? I can't wait to see how this show ends!
Justified premieres January 20 at 10pm on FX. Readers, are you excited to see this final season?
