Reports confirm that A$AP Yams, founding member of the legendary hip-hop crew A$AP Mob, was found dead at the age of 26. Details surrounding the rapper's sudden death still remain unconfirmed, although Yams did struggle with drug addiction in the past.
A sorrowful statement released by RCA Records reads (via Rolling Stone):
"All of us at RCA Records are shocked and saddened to hear of the death of A$AP Yams. As one of the creative forces behind A$AP Worldwide, Yams' vision, humor and dedication to the members of A$AP Mob will always be remembered. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends."

A$AP Bari was one of the first to break the sad news on Sunday (January 18) with this initial tweet:
@TOASTOTHEGOD: "I'm Done With Life... RIP YAMS."
In recent years, Yams (real name, Steven Rodriguez) has struggled with drug addiction, specifically codeine and Xanax. He entered rehab back in July 2014 for treatment (via BET). But the Harlem emcee's last tweet on January 17 proclaims:
@ASAPYams: "BODEINE BRAZY."
Still, A$AP Ant insists in a recent Vlad TV interview that Yams did NOT die from an overdose:
In an exclusive New York Times piece published last year, Yams said this about his work and influence within the hip-hop community:
"We wanted to become big but we didn't want to do it by hopping on somebody else's wave... We wanted to come in the game with our own wave."
Stay tuned as more information surrounding his death becomes available. RIP, A$AP Yams.
