Returning from its mid-season break, The Flash arrives with an all-new episode on the CW network. Now that Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) revealed his true feelings to his unrequited love, will his relationship with Iris West (Candice Patton) turn out only "more messed up?"
In our first recap, Barry (Gustin) woke up from his coma to find out the love of his life is with another man. Barry's feelings for Iris (Patton) were unnoticed as she became steady with Eddie Thawne (Rick Cosnett). He had to push aside his unrequited feelings because his father, Henry Allen (John Wesley Shipp) was in prison for a murder he didn't commit.
In the first part of crossover event, The Flash vs. Arrow, Barry couldn't stop smiling as Iris had a crush on the scarlet speedster. But all good things must come to end as their romance came to an abrupt halt. Brainwashed by a metahuman, the Flash attacked Eddie, causing the detective to start a task force against him.
In our mid-season recap, Iris took a step further in her relationship with Eddie and moved in with him. With the Reverse-Flash putting her in danger, Barry had to tell Iris how he truly felt. Iris didn't know how to respond back as Barry spoke from the heart.
Gustin teases to Entertainment Weekly what will happen between the two, "It's actually different than what most viewers will expect. He's less awkward than I would've expected. He's going to make sure they still have their relationship and things won't be messed up because of this honesty."

The Arrow guest star continues. "The tables have kind of turned. Now that Barry has been honest with Iris and maybe she's not being fully honest with herself, she's now the awkward one. Barry is trying to move forward with whatever friendship they can have right now."
