Supernatural is currently in the second half of Season 10, and the main focus has been on Dean Winchester and the Mark of Cain that is turning him into a rage-fueled killing machine. This storyline has been driving the show since the middle of Season 9, and it shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

The latest new episode, entitled "The Hunter Games," showed the fallout from Dean's massacre of the loan sharks in the midseason finale. The Mark continues to feed off his rage and anger and drive him to darker places, and Sam theorized in the latest episode that part of the cure has to come from Dean himself because Cain has lived with the Mark for thousands of years.

It seems clear now that the Mark of Cain storyline will permeate the rest of Season 10, so let's try to figure out how the show would resolve it. Here are five possibilities:

1) Cain himself

There are lots of points supporting this theory. For starters, Cain is the one who gave the Mark to Dean in the first place, so it's only logical that he would be the one with the power to remove it. When Dean tortured Metatron in the latest episode, the angel blurted out the clue "The river shall end at the source," which seems like a pretty blatant reference to Cain. We also know Timothy Omundson will be returning as Cain later this season.

2) The First Blade

Metatron said that the first step in removing the Mark was to retrieve the First Blade, the weapon that pairs with the Mark to kill...pretty much anything. He also said that there were a lot of steps in the process, which is worrisome. Regardless, it seems the First Blade is an integral part of getting rid of the Mark, though it likely won't be an easy or pretty removal.

3) Crowley

The King of Hell always knows more than he's letting on, so it's always possible he has something up his sleeve to get rid of the Mark. He has formed a tenuous alliance with the Winchesters, so he's not above helping them, likely for a price. But when Crowley is involved, that price could always be far too high.

4) Metatron

Metatron claims to know all the steps to removing the Mark, and he told the first one to Dean for free before he demanded high fees for the rest. The elder Winchester counter-offered by carving up the scribe with an angel blade, which only fueled the Mark. Metatron likely is telling the truth, but he's a weasel who would only provide the information at the cost of his freedom.

5) God

Just because I want Chuck back on the show.

The "Spoiler Room" column at EW.com has some information from showrunner Jeremy Carver about Sam's story in the second half of the season.

"Can you make my day with some Sam Supernatural news? - Maria
For those of you who are worried about Sam not getting his own story in the second half of the season, executive producer Jeremy Carver promises that's not the case. That said, Sam's story will revolve around saving Dean. 'It's going to be a Sam story, but it's going to be focused around, 'How do I save my brother?' And it's going to make Sam ask a lot of questions [about] himself that may actually have him questioning stances he's taken in the last couple years,' Carver says. 'Sam's come a very far way in the last couple years in terms of this unwillingness to let others die while the brothers live. And what Dean is facing is going to have Sam facing that question anew. People should not despair that Sam doesn't have a story. Sam has a story, and he has a want.' Feel better?"
