Missy Elliott and Drake- "I can say this, nobody has reached out to me"

Missy Elliott talked about Drake, who released a single featuring her late friend and singer, Aalyiah in a recent interview with New York's The Breakfast Club. During the interview Elliott went into detail about rumors that a new album which was prerecorded prior to the singer's death in 2001 would be produced and released by rapper Drake.

 Elliott told the Breakfast Club, "I can say this, nobody has reached out to me. It's not even about reaching out to me, I personally want to respect her family. If her mother or father or brother hasn't said they want to make an Aaliyah album. Yeah, we still mourn, but not the way this family (does). So until they come and say Missy and Tim we're ready to do an Aaliyah album, we just pull back from it."

In March, rapper Drake hinted a posthumous Aaliyah album in the works during an interview with Tim Westwood, "I have some great Aaliyah news coming soon." In August, Drake released a song called "Enough Said" featuring the late singer, which may have been the "Aaliyah news" he was referring to earlier this year. The Hip Hop world is familiar with the slight fan obsession Drake has on Aaliyah, especially after a picture of his back tattoo of the beauty circulated on the web, causing a big buzz.

Drake told Westwood in an interview, "You know it's hard for me to ride around to a female singer because at the end of the day, you're a man, but she always kept it so G with the writing and the melodies. It was something to ride to, especially when it was chopped and screwed.

In Late August of 2001, Aaliyah was killed in a plane crash in the Bahamas with eight other passengers who were there for her "Rock the Boat" video shoot.
