A British soldier gave birth in an Afghanistan combat zone this week. The soldier who arrived in March told authorities that she didn't know she was pregnant.  According to AP, she didn't go for any doctor appointments until the day she gave birth.

After complaining to doctors about stomach pains, the pregnant soldier gave birth to a baby boy in the same camp that Prince Harry was stationed and the exact same location where two marines were killed after a Taliban attack.

The new born baby boy is Britain's army's first in history to be born during combat by a member. According to AP, both the mother and child are doing well and are in, "stable condition." In days to come, doctors are scheduled to arrive in Afghanistan to help the new born mother return home safely.

Apparently, about 60 British soldiers have been sent back from Afghanistan after finding out that they were pregnant.  The United Kingdom military regulation does not allow female soldiers to deploy if a child was conceived before a tour of duty.
