From the comedic legend behind such classics, High Anxiety and Blazing Saddles comes a new HBO special. Get ready to hear some wise-cracking jokes, catchy songs, and some personal anecdotes from the The Producers writer/director himself in Mel Brooks Live at the Geffen.

After playing his comedic roles on the big screen, stepping behind the camera, and producing stage plays, the writer/director of History of the World: Part I is donning a fancy tuxedo to deliver a laugh-out-loud one-man show. After winning a Tony, Grammy, and Oscar for his hilarious musical numbers, expect some singing from the Springtime for Hitler composer.

Though details of the show remain under wraps, producer Kevin Salter teases to the LA Times, "What Mel wanted to do was to have a platform to tell some of these great stories that he has in an intimate fashion."

During the solo stage production, the comic mastermind will go over his decades of laughs. What could he talk about? Could he talk about how the comedic legends Richard Pryor became involved in Blazing Saddles? Or maybe we'll hear about how Dave Chappelle impressed the Robin Hood: Men In Tights director?

Describing the best moments of his childhood to the New York Daily News, Brooks reveals, "My favorite time of life was from 5 to 10 years old because I wasn't yoked yet, I wasn't harnessed. The world didn't want a f---g thing from me."

By the end of the show, Brooks and a special guest will take in questions from the audiences. When everything is said and done, the showman will take a well-deserved bow.

USA Today transcribed the Spaceballs director's advice to up-and-comers, "Keep aiming at something that is more glorious than just a job. ... You get one life. You have a dream, pursue it. Pursue it at 100 miles an hour."

Mel Brooks Live at the Geffen premieres on HBO this Saturday, January 31 at 9pm.
