Season 4 of Person of Interest returned from its hiatus break after closing up its epic and action-packed trilogy on CBS. With Shaw (Sarah Shahi)'s whereabouts unknown, will Finch (Michael Emerson), and Reese (Jim Caviezel) actually find her "sick and twisted" because of Samaritan?
As we previously mentioned, when we last saw Shaw (Shahi), Martine and her operatives were in the midst of an intense shoot-out with Team Machine. In their last moment together, Shaw kissed Root (Amy Acker) before sacrificing herself to save them. Root screamed as she watched Martine point her gun at Shaw's head.
In our recent recap, Reese (Caviezel) and Root discovered an entire town taken hostage by Samaritan. Using the town residents as its own personal ant farm, Samaritan was operating on innocent civilians, as experiments for its neural implants. When the Machine told Root to stop looking for Shaw, she was too heartbroken to stay with the team.
In the episode's closing minutes, we do discover Shaw is still alive, but she is in a hospital bed. In the room with her is the mysterious Mr. Greer. Shaw's last line is, "If this is the afterlife, this kinda sucks."
In an interview with Zap2it, during her final press tour, Shahi teased whether or not Shaw will become one of Samartitan's lab rats, "" constantly keep telling them I want to shave my head on camera, I want to have a bionic arm, I want to shoot bullets through my fingers. I wish we had the opportunity to explore [how damaged she is] and play with that more and really see how dark this girl can really get and how sinister and sick is she. Those are the things that if I were to return the show what I personally would want [to do]."

The writers of POI purposely left Shaw's whereabouts opened-ended because Shahi is pregnant in real life. The L Word actress continues, "If she does come back, she's not going to come back the same Shaw, that's for sure."
