Sons of Anarchy Actor, Johnny Lewis Was On "Smiles" Drug UPDATE

Johnny Lewis, "Sons of Anarchy" actor is suspected in killing his 81- year old land lady who he allegedly beat to death and mutilated her cat before jumping off the roof. Lewis may have been on a drug called "Smiles."

Police didn't find any evidence of drugs at the location, but say that his behavior is similar to the psychotic effects in other designer drugs. Police will wait several weeks for the toxicology report before they can determine if drugs were the reasoning behind the alleged suicide/murder.

Officers arrived to the home early Wednesday after reports of a woman screaming. When police arrived, Lewis's body was in the driveway and the 81- year old land lady, Catherine Davis was dead. Davis had been beaten to death and strangled, while her cat was mutilated.

Eyewitness Andrew Smith said Lewis, seemed to have "superhuman strength." One person told police, "Mr. Lewis at some point jumped over a fence into a neighbor's yard, and for some reason attacked the painter who was over there painting the house." Smith added, "The painter and the homeowner were able to get him away. He jumped back into his yard where he was staying and at some point shortly thereafter fell to his death."

Even though, nothing was found at the scene, LAPD have noticed the new trend of people using hallucinogenic synthetic drugs in the area. The designer drug known as Smiles that may have been used by Lewis is either sold in a pill or powder form and gives off a psychedelic effect to any user. It is illegal to sell or buy and is classified as a schedule-I substance by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.

According to KABC-TV, Lewis had been arrested and jailed on burglary charges and assault with a deadly weapon back in August. People close to Lewis such as "Sons of Anarchy" creator, Kurt Sutter wasn't surprised of the news. Sutter tweeted, "Not sure if folks know this yet, but Johnny Lewis (halfsack) died last night. The sad irony of it happening two days after Opie's death is not lost on me. It was a tragic end for an extremely talented guy, who unfortunately had lost his way. i wish i could say that i was shocked by the events last night, but i was not. i am deeply sorry that an innocent life had to be thrown into his destructive path. Yes, it's day or mourning, but it's also a day of awareness and gratitude. Sadly, some of us carry the message by dying."
