Taylor Swift Responds About John Mayer Diss In Rolling Stone Magazine

Taylor Swift "humiliates" John Mayer. In Swift's break up song, "Dear John," some say that she directed the song to the singer. In the lyrics Swift sings, "Dear John, I see it all now that you're gone. Don't you think I was too young to be messed with. The girl in the dress cried the whole way home."

After hearing the song Mayer responded, in an interview with Rollingstone magazine saying, "I never got an e-mail. I never got a phone call," he added, "I was really caught off-guard, and it really humiliated me at a time when I'd already been dressed down. I mean, how would you feel if, at the lowest you've ever been, someone kicked you even lower?" When asked about the song's line, "Don't you think I was too young to be messed with?" Mayer says, "I don't want to go into that."

Clearly upset, Mayer continued the interview to give his own critiques of Swift, "I will say as a songwriter that I think it's kind of cheap songwriting," he says. "I know she's the biggest thing in the world, and I'm not trying to sink anybody's ship, but I think it's abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, 'Wait till he gets a load of this!' That's bullshit."

In her defense, Swift told Glamour magazine, "How presumptuous! I never disclose who my songs are about." When the interviewer tried to read the whole transcript from Mayer's interview, Swift cut them short and said, "No! I don't want to know. I know it wasn't good, so I don't want to know. I put a high priority on staying happy, and I know what I can't handle. But I've never developed that thick a skin. So I just kind of live a life, and I let all the gossip live somewhere else."
