Katy Perry Russell Brand Divorce:Songstress Plans 'Divorce Party' for would-have-been Second Anniversary

What's one way for pop songstress Katy Perry to keep her spirits high around the time of what would-have-been her second wedding anniversary to now ex-husband Russell Brand? By throwing a divorce-themed party, of course! Perry (who officially divorced Brand this past July after a 14-month long marriage) is worried that she may feel down in the dumps around October 23, which is the day she married Brand back in 2010. But instead of locking herself in her room and starring tearfully over old wedding pictures, rumors have it that the "Part of Me" star is instead planning a huge celebration with friends to help keep her mind positive. A source tells The Sun newspaper Perry is deeming it her "Divorce Party."

Perry's birthday comes just a few days after the not-so-happy anniversary date, so the "Wide Awake" songstress hopes a fun and lighthearted pre-party celebration will keep unhappy thoughts and depressed emotions at bay. According to the inside source who spoke with The Sun: "Katy has been dreading October 23 for weeks now and has been trying to think of ways to turn it into something positive. It's her birthday two days later and the last thing she wanted to do was spend that week depressed and miserable, which would then mean not doing anything to celebrate her birthday."

While Perry's friends would love a big and wild blowout, the "Fireworks" songstress plan on opting for a little more something low key.

"Her pals have been persuading her to have a huge party or go to Vegas for a few days but Katy decided on throwing a small gathering at her home. She has decided to call it her divorce party and it will be a day of doing what she loves with her favorite people."

Wonder if that includes John Mayer (the guitar crooner and renowned Hollywood player has been romantically linked to Perry all summer, although the two never came out as a couple and many of their interactions merely appeared flirtatious).

Hopefully part plans go well so Perry can enjoy her 28^th birthday in bliss and happiness!
