Another day, even more drama behind-the-scenes of The View. While it has been reported that Rosie O'Donnell's exit has intervened with Whoopi Goldberg's decision to up and leave the show, it seems that now her exit is interfering with Whoopi's career choices. Goldberg was planning on taking some time off from the morning talk show to pursue other projects, but was always intent on returning, however it looks like now Rosie's exit has stopped that from happening altogether.
According to Radar Online, Goldberg's bosses are not only refusing that she be let out of her contract, but they are also keeping her from taking other jobs in the meantime. Whoopi had a clause placed in her contract that said she could come and go as she pleased on the morning talk show, but it seems like her bosses have put their feet down in the wake of O'Donnell's departure.
One of those projects was a new pilot for series, Delores and Jermaine, where she would play one of the titled roles. However it looks like the network didn't want Whoopi to leave The View, as they withdrew the offer.
"Whoopi had the offer to play Delores, but ABC pulled the offer right before Presidents' Day weekend," an insider told the news site.
But it seems like Whoopi is oddly fine with the decision, according to Page Six.
"It's a lot of work to go and do two or three jobs at the same time," the star explained to the publication. "I'm getting older, and I don't want to work that hard. So we'll see how it all works out."
As for the rumors of fighting on the talk show, the Sister Act star said, "I never put down the fact that I have a really good job, but I also have bosses. They make decisions ... sometimes you don't like them and you have to live with them."
