After learning that Nicki Minaj's tour manager -- and an well-known manager of other musical artists including Fabolous, Rihanna and Questlove -- was killed in Philly early Wednesday morning, Feb. 18, many concerned fans and music industry artists want to know what happened. According to NBC Philadelphia, De'Von Pickett died from stab wounds he suffered during a fight outside the Che Bar & Grill. Pickett, who went by "Day Day," was only 29. Eric Reed, 27, his partner, was also stabbed but remains in fair condition at Albert Einstein Medical Center. So what actually led up to the argument that happened in the early morning Wednesday? The news site said police were told by witnesses that the dispute may have been due to a recently fired employee.
Chief Inspector Scott Small said Philly police are currently researching to prove that the story witnesses claimed is the actual case.
“We believe both of the victims, as well as the perpetrator, were all inside of this bar and that’s when an argument started,” said Small.
The fight ended up going outside, where Pickett and Reed were stabbed multiple times.
Police revealed that the suspect was last seen driving off in a gray, Buick LeSabre, wearing a black and gray jacket. Police described the stabber as "a 30-year-old man standing 5-foot, 8-inches tall and weighing 160 pounds with a full beard."
The two stabbing victims were currently working on Nicki Minaj's The Pinkprint Tour, kicking off in Sweden in March.
Minaj tweeted her shock, and revealed that the two men were working in Philly for her tour plans.
Two members of my team were stabbed last night in Philly. One was killed. They had only been there for two days rehearsing for the tour.

#Rp @myfabolouslife - these guys flew into Philly for my tour rehearsals 2 days ago and were both stabbed last night. #RIPDAYDAY condolences to your family. Unbelievable. Eric (on the right) is recovering. Another senseless act of violence that took the life of a great guy. So sad. A photo posted by Nicki Minaj (@nickiminaj) on Feb 18, 2015 at 10:09am PST
Other artists expressed their sadness, including Fabolous, Rihanna and Questlove.
Fabolous wrote on the photo, that Minaj added to her Instagram page above:
"My heart is heavy right now... God opened my eyes this morning at 9:49am. For some reason at that time I woke up thinking about both of these guys. They both work with me, but I couldn't figure out why they were in my mind at 1st wake up. Wasn't sure if I had a dream & they were in it or just some wake up & process things type shit.. But at 10:04 my brother hit me & told me that they both were fatally stabbed in Philly last night. My friend @daydaydoesdis (left) died & my friend Eric Parker is in critical condition in the hospital fighting for his life. I am still in shock & don't want to believe this. And it hurts even more knowing how good these two dudes are. How hard these guys work. And how loyal they are to whoever they are down with & each other. Please send Eric Parker your blessings & a prayer for him to pull thru. And RIP to the fallen soldier Day Day. I can't even believe I'm saying that with your name attached to it. & I HATE this being a post!! I will miss your energy, your vibe, & you but I'll hold on to your spirit!! #RIPDayDay' #PrayForEricParker"
Rihanna added the photo of Day Day and herself, captioning the snapshot: "throwback #RIPDayDay"

An unidentified family member of Pickett's revealed that both men were in Philly to work on Minaj's tour with Philly native and rapper Meek Mill, who is currently dating Minaj.
"They were all here for her," the family source said. "I guess they were out celebrating and things went wrong."
RIP.
