Several reports confirm that popular television producer Harris Wittles was found dead of a possible drug overdose in his LA home on Thursday (February 19). The "Parks and Recreation" executive was only 30-years-old.
The infamous gossip webloid TMZ broke news of Wittles death late Thursday afternoon. Apparently, authorities found Wittles' body lying unconscious on his couch - he was officially pronounced dead at approximately 1 p.m. Drug paraphernalia was found scattered throughout the home, and police discovered no signs of trauma or foul play.
Wittles was always very open about his past struggles with drug addiction - he attempted rehab at least twice.
The comedic writer was best-known for his work on "The Sarah Silverman Program." He was also a reoccuring geust on "Comedy Bang Bang."
The popular NBC series "Park and Recreation" is currently in its final seaosn - the finale is scheduled to air next week.
On Wednesday (February 18), Wittles made his last public appearance at LA's established comedy theater, "The Meltdown." According to TMZ, "During his set he talked about being clean and sober... and said he was in a good place."
Several Twitter fans and associates have since offered their shocked condolences. Amy Poehler shared these heartfelt words during an appearance at the Unite4:humanity Gala, where the "Baby Mama" starlet was honored for her work with the Worldwide Orphan Organization:
"Today, I lost a friend... I lost a dear, young man in my life who was struggling with addiction and who died - just a few hours before I came" (via USA Today).
