Speaking with Cigar Aficionado Magazine, Jackman opened up about his role as Wolverine and more.
"I always want to be in better shape than I was for the last one. I don't believe in stagnation. People say they try to maintain the status quo. But I believe the natural cycle means you're either advancing and getting closer to something or you're receding," the actor said. "Every time I play Wolverine I want to go further, physically and emotionally."
As the interview continued, Jackman revealed that his experience watching Birdman was very influential on his career aspects as the tough comic book character.
"I said to my wife, 'The moral [of Birdman] is that I should never stop playing Wolverine,'" Jackman told the magazine, according to Gamma Squad. "'I've got to find a way to keep playing him until I die.' I know that someday they'll recast the role with another actor...I'd be happy if the role was eventually recast. It would mean that it had become iconic."
Jackman most recently portrayed Wolverine in 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past. Rumors suggest he'll reprise his role in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse and most likely a sequel to The Wolverine. From the looks of it, he could be playing this character until he dies!
