Only two years after the widely successful, popular video game reboot of one of the most iconic gaming icons, the film industry is getting in on the action. 2013 held the reboot of Tomb Raider, an action adventure game following Lara Croft-the tougher, female version of Indiana Jones. On consoles, we got to meet a younger Croft before she earned her Raider title, and it looks like Hollywood wants to show us a similar origin story on the big screen! According to Slash Film, this origin story idea for Croft and the Tomb Raider series was announced over six years ago. We haven't really heard anything since, and when the video game reboot came, the movie idea fell even further into the back of our minds. But now, Deadline describes this revitalized project as being "on a fast track, and there is strong progress to production language in the rights deal with Square Enix, the video game company behind the title."

With this in mind, what young actress do you think can lead this rebooted franchise? Who can replace Angelina Jolie? Let us know in the comments section below.

Meanwhile, you can see the young Lara Croft later this year when Rise of the Tomb Raider is released later this year as an Xbox exclusive. Check out some of our more recent coverage of this video game right here:
