Following word that President Barack Obama is trying to ease our relationship with Cuba, comedian Conan O'Brien chose to head on over there to film an episode of his TBS late night show CONAN. Apparently getting in wasn't as easy as he was hoping, but after some time he did indeed get into Cuba – thankfully. And after stopping by Howard Stern's radio show to discuss his career alongside the episode, O'Brien made another stop at Comedy Central's The Daily Show to chat up his experience over in Cuba with Jon Stewart. Of course, it's good the TBS host made a stop over now –– you know, because Stewart will soon be leaving his coveted fake news desk.
Womp, womp, womp...
After sitting down with Stewart, O'Brien noted that it wasn't so easy getting into Cuba. "We actually weren't sure we were going to get into the country," he said. "We didn't make a lot of preparations."
And despite having the correct papers, it seems that once they got there, their entry was thwarted by one person in charge who said, "No."
Oh boy...
Check out the exchange between O'Brien and Stewart here:
Despite Cuba being a land that is "completely frozen in time," as O'Brien says, the host appeared to truly enjoy his experiences there, especially with the people.
"They are very interested in how the United States views them. ... It was very sweet. I didn't' want it to be comedically snarky."
Of course, Stewart couldn't help but agree, saying, "The people, I think, are thirsting for that interaction."
