Poor Lil Wayne - yet another victim of the infamous celebrity death hoax!
The YMCMB rapper was spotted partying with fellow hip-hop superstar T.I. in Charlotte, North Carolina over the CIAA basketball tournament weekend (photos via hiphopwired.com). The "Blurred Lines" crooner later hosted a star-studded event with Jeezy, and unfortunately, things took a very violent turn...
According to TMZ, gunshots were fired during the Label Club promotional party and the crowd quickly erupted into chaos. Two unidentified victims were hospitalized, but suffered non-life threatening injuries. Authorities have yet to make any arrests:
The "Family Hustle" hypeman had just finished performing, but remained unharmed. Jeezy was partying with Yo Gotti in VIP when the altercation occurred.
However, the Sorry 4 The Wait 2 emcee was NOT involved, but for some odd reason, #RIPWeezy began trending online:
@nathanmed77: "RIP [in peace] Lil Wayne [prey] can't believe he's dead."
@ViviKimmyCarter: "why are people tweeting rip lil wayne... this can't be serious."
@Hooo_Dat: "rip lil wayne he was trash anyways."
@Pandemops: "Damn you will be missed... RIP Lil Wayne [prey]."
@itsKamaKazi: "Wow... RIP Lil Wayne."
Turns out that another bizarre situation involving the New Orlean native occurred around the same time.
Very early Saturday morning (February 28), police were called to the area surrounding Weezy's beach house in Miami, Florida. An unidentified male was suspiciously "creeping" and lurking around the neighborhood...
Of course Wayne wasn't home, and by the time cops arrived, the suspect had already disappeared. Again, no legal actions were made (via TMZ).
But how did this ignite the morbid Cash Money death hoax? Well... it all allegedly started with this tweet that went viral on March 1:
@Xfinii: "Wow.. RIP Lil Wayne..."
But the hoaxter later admitted:
@Xfinii: "I tweeted out 'RIP Lil Wayne' as a joke now I've seen like 10 more tweets of it LMAO."
Not funny.
Thankfully, several fans debunked the disturbing rumors:
@AskedShow: "#RIPLILWayne who has died more times than Kenny from South Park, Optimus Prime in Transformers, Jesus, and Robocop."
@_gracedarlene: "I swear lil Wayne dies like 9 times a year according to Twitter."
@L0veGood_: "This is like the 30th time lil wayne has been dead on Twitter. Yall childish LOL."
Meanwhile, Weezy remains mum on Twitter. But he's certainly still alive!
