According to a new announcement last week from Shannon Lee, the daughter of martial arts and Hollywood legend Bruce Lee, a biopic based on her father is currently in the works. "There have been projects out there involving my father, but they've lacked a complete understanding of his philosophies and artistry. They haven't captured the essence of his beliefs in martial arts or storytelling," Lee said in a statement, according to Entertainment Weekly. "The only way to get audiences to understand the depth and uniqueness of my father is to generate our own material and find amazing, like-minded partners to work with."

Lee died at the age of 32 in 1973, while still filming his most ambitious film-to-date, Enter the Dragon. This official biopic will delve into the life like no other project has before.

Bruce Lee Entertainment is teaming with producers Lawrence Grey and Janet Yang to bring this movie to the big screen in the near future.

"I have long been inspired by Bruce Lee and wanted to partner with Shannon in order to really delve into the depth of the icon in a way that has never before been seen on the screen," Grey said, according to IGN. "It is really a dream project and the perfect partnership."

Clearly one of the biggest movie stars of all time, Lee is remembered as a top athlete of the last century. His background in martial arts is the stuff of legend, really, so a movie like this would be great for fans to get to see the other side of the star.
